This domaine has been honing its wines for almost a thousand years! A thousand years of remarkable history for the domaine’s successive owners, most of whom are from the same family. They have succeeded in drawing the very best from this rare terroir situated on the south-facing side of a highly coveted hill close to Sainte-Foy-la-Grande.
From one generation to the next, Château Picon has continued to reveal its talent thanks to a range of wines that are frequently awarded with medals and highly appreciated both here in France and abroad.
Similar to the Médoc and Graves regions, the vineyards here are composed of gravel soils on the surface in which the Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec varietals thrive.
The clay and limestone sub-soils, similar to those in the Libourne region, allow the Merlot and Cabernet franc vines to reach their full potential.
Château Picon is Responsible Farming certified and committed to using sustainable methods of winegrowing which respect the environment and ensure optimum quality.
